Kamonyi
Kamonyi District is located in the Southern Province. It has 12 sectors, 59 cells, and 317 villages, with a population of 450,849. The district covers an area of 655.5 square kilometers. It shares borders with five districts: Muhanga, Ruhango, Nyarugenge, Gakenke, and Bugesera.
The district headquarters is built in Ryabitana Village, Gihinga Cell, Gacurabwenge Sector, Kamonyi District, Southern Province.
Kamonyi District also has various cultural and historical attractions. Among them is Ijuru rya Kamonyi, found in Gacurabwenge Sector, where King Yuhi II Mazimpaka once lived. His son, Cyirima Rujugira, later settled on Mount Gaseke, which is now in Kayenzi Sector. There is also a forest in Muganza, Karama Sector, where kings were buried.
