Energy.

The District of Kamonyi is not connected to the national electricity grid in spite of the high voltage lines crossing the District. The only source energy for cooking is firewood which causes a progressive degradation of the environment. The popularization of the use of the improved hearths “Rondereza” is in hand. Currently, 70% of the households use the improved hearths.

Transport and Communication.

Kamonyi is crossed by a tamaced road connecting Kigali to the Southern Province. Besides these main roads, the District has a sufficient highway network because all the Sectors are connected by road axes. In general, these roads not being well maintained, they are not easily passable during the rain season. People and goods are transported by the helps of minibuses, vans, motor bikes and bicycles.

Communication.

The District of Kamonyi does not have any phone network except for private individuals that have cell phones. These last are used only by a small number of people who are able to afford the cost of communication. Today, the District has access to Internet services.
