Education

Kamonyi District is planning to see how it can reduce the ratio of teacher:student which was at 1:75 in such a way the number of classrooms and teachers will be increased so that the ratio is reduced to 1:65 within one year. The district is also going to find a way how the number of school dropouts can be reduced because it has been found out that 6% of all the students dropout of school.

The district increased the number of students attending secondary schools to the extent that they are now 21%, and there are plans to teach those who don't know how to read and write in such a way that there are centres that were set up to receive them.

The District of Kamonyi put ahead the education of the girl child and currently the girls that have been able to finish primary education are 71% and those that have been able to be promoted to secondary schools are about 43%.

There is still need to improve the education of technical schools. There is also need to put in place a cultural center (Itorero Center) at the district level and to be provided with enough administrative capacity to be able to achieve its objectives.
